ITINERARY SAMPLE

 

Day 1: KOKODA-HOI

Fly Airlines PNG to Kokoda (30 min flight) and experience the sites of Kokoda including the local museum and war memorials. Enjoy a traditional welcome meal before our adventure begins with our first walk to Hoi village campsite.

 

Day 2: HOI-ISARAVA

The exhilarating first day climb up to Isurava, scene of the epic battle that defines the track. A taste of things to come.

 

Day 3: ISURAVA-EORA CREEK

A long undulating climb and an unforgettable visit to the spectacular Isurava monument. Optional visit to the Isurava museum. End the day beside the gushing waters of Eora Creek.

 

Day 4: EORA CREEK- EFOGE

As on most mornings, the day begins with a climb straight up from the camp, this time across the creek again and then over Mt. Bellamy, the highest point on the track to the Efoge Creek campsite.

 

Day 5: EFOGE – EFOGI

Another early climb over the legendary Brigade Hill taking in the spectacular mountain scenery and then to Menari village hut overnight.?????

 

Day 6: EFOGI -MENARI

Another early climb over the saddle and a steep down to the Brown River ????????????? Then to Menari village overnight.

 

Day 7:MENARI - NAURO

A challenging good long ascent up to the Maguli range and a step descent to the Ofi Creek campsite.????

 

Day 8: NAURO -OFI CREEK

A long slow climb over Ioribaiwa ridge and then a steep decent to Ua’ule Creek campsite.?????

 

Day 9: OFI CREEK - UA’ULE CREEK

A testing climb over Imita ridge, scene of one of the defining battles of the WW2 campaign and a steep down to a small river bank site. The biggest climbs are now behind us.

 

Day 10: UA’ULE CREEK – GOLDIE RIVER

Make the most of our last climb to Ower’s corner, with a swim in the Goldie river on the way. Plenty of opportunity for photos and to celebrate our achievement at the Kokoda arch. Finally, a pleasant walk down the road to meet our transport and an esky full of cold drinks and great food…..then rest! Optional sightseeing visit to Bomana War cemetery en route to Port Moresby.
